The Ministry will provide information to assist in score comparisons. It is the first bilingual system by MOE. The National Administration Guidelines require twice-yearly reporting of both progress and achievement, but we would expect the focus of the mid-year report to be on progress in relation to the standards, with the end-of-year report to focus on the summary of their child's progress and achievement in relation to the standards.
Terms currently being used to describe progress and achievement in reports on individual students include: Reporting twice a year fulfills this request. While I don't particularly enjoy their posts and I admit just ignore them sometimes, I allow them because that is their interest and world.

Some of the sample templates available include graphical as well as written presentation of information. It measures stages for number knowledge of the curriculum levels. Students listen to a passage and then answer questions.
Taken from a painting of Kapiti Island at Sunset. In it, darker shades of orange correspond to higher likelihoods of a judgement against the standard falling into that reporting band.
Imprecision also needs to be taken into account when considering the curriculum level descriptor. Those using this material to help them make teacher judgements using e-asTTle should bear in mind the important notes on page 4. For example, a piece of writing can be assessed for ideas at R3 - which gives a curriculum level of 3B - while a piece assessed at R4 gives a curriculum level at 4A.
Reporting in plain language is part of the requirement. A curriculum level of 4A for example means that given 40 minutes to write to a particular prompt under test conditions the student has been able to produce a text of sufficient quality to indicate they have the writing skills and competencies described as appropriate for students working at an advanced stage for Level 4 of the curriculum.

Yes, teachers should make sure students understand the prompt fully. Once data is fed in, reports can be generated and next learning steps can be planned. For example, with a desire to personalise learning for my staff, am I providing the conditions where: The supplied templates are examples which can be used if desired, but schools are free to develop their own format or adapt an existing one.
It then takes into account the difficulty of the prompt when transforming rubric scores to scale scores. Acknowledgements We would like to thank all the people who have helped with and contributed to this work, especially staff at Auckland University who provided the scripts, the teachers Page 4 http: It is unwise to treat the element curriculum scores as precise measures and comparisons with the old element scores will be very tenuous.
From February teachers have been required to report to parents in writing, at least twice a year, about how their child is progressing and achieving in relation to the reading, writing, and mathematics standards.
How well is your child doing. Important Notes When using an e-asTTle reading test as one piece of evidence to inform a teacher judgement, it is worth considering more than just the total scale score as presented here. How prescriptive is the report format. All schools have there own moderation process within their assessment programs, where they consider the purpose for moderation, the sample size, interpretation of national standards, how teacher judgments are made, the process and documenting.
Teachers require extensive training due to the nature of the rubric system, which they mark against. The interview involves two parts: The Ministry recommends that all reports on reading, writing, and mathematics contain: The e-asTTle application links results to particular e-asTTle prompts.
Results Student achievement in e-asTTle is measured by a score on a scale derived from the marking of the student's performance. Do schools have to use a graph or other visual showing progress and achievement against expected standards or will a plain language comment be enough.

They are being introduced to give teachers, your child and you a clear idea of where your child is at in reading, writing and mathematics. When using an e-asTTle reading test as one piece of evidence to inform a teacher judgement, it is worth considering more than just the total scale score (as presented here).
